Notes
An excellent show. The first part is similar to earlier shows on the
ATNTIIO tour, but has a mellower, less scripted feel, avoiding some of
the "sameness" of those shows. Looser, more exploratory arrangements
to the new songs (little aside ending "The Crying of Lot G",
extra-trippy intro to "Saturday", etc). Technical problems with
"Cherry Chapstick" make for a nice delineation before the "rocking
out" (sic) begins..."Big Day Coming" is the loud version, it sounds great
after they've played it quiet so many times this tour; the familiar
flexing of the intro is all anticipation. The rest of the set
oscillates between loud and quiet numbers, eclectic and very well
done. "Tom Courtenay" is the Camp YLT version (Georgia). Ira asks
about the Knicks game.
